Hello all!
This is mine and my students blog page for our unit on Global Stereotypes. I look forward to sharing our perspectives, and learning about other countries. I teach 6th grade Geography in New Jersey, USA.
My 5th period class and I were discussing stereotypes about France, and EUrope in general. One student believes that people from France don't like children. What do you guys think and how can you debunk this?
Our first unit as a class will be Brazil and South America. Some of the stereotypes we have of this area is that they LOVE soccer and everyone plays soccer. Although this may be a positive stereotype, how can positive stereotypes still be offensive?
stereotypes are not always true. if you hear a stereotype you shouldn't believe unless you know its true. stereotypes an also be an insult to some people
some stereotypes are very rude and offensive. what are some of the stereotypes that the french have of us? PLEASE REPORT BACK ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey peoples from around the world. Why do people think that all Germans are Nazi's? Where did this come from, and why are people so mean? Why cant we live in a world without war? What is the war in Iraq all about?
I don't think French people like kids because i have a french uncle and he dosn't like me, when i was at a store he told my mom i drove him crazy when i didn't but i dont think all French people hate kids... what do you think?
A lot of people all over the world think that all Americans are rude, wasteful, and don't care about anyone but themselves.This is not true.There are people who are working extremely hard to make the world a better place. There are charities and organizations doing their best to make the world a better place to live.
That's just one person out of many so I wouldn't agree that all french people hate children or else they would've hated themselves when they were younger! =)
i wonder why people blog about other people when they dont even know who they are or never been to that certain county.like how people say that americans are fat and disrespectful, people
french people cant hate kids cause if french pepole hated kids they would not have any kids and then no french people so it is not true they hate kids and they had to be kids at one point
I agree with what you said Miss. I created a website about saving the earth and helping with cleaning the environment. See? one stereotype says americans don't care about the rest of the world, but I'm an american and i care! Not everyone thinks that, I know, but some people do.
i hate it when people think that everyone that is german is a nazis. its not true and i am also german. that was like 50 years ago and it is ridiculous that people still believe it. i hope people can debunk this stereotype
A lot of you are making very thoughtful comments. It is very true that stereotypes are kind of like rumors, they spread easily and can be affected by one little thing that someone may or may have said or done. In this case it would affect an entire country or culture. Continue asking questions and concerns, and remember to be respectful and curteous of others. Happy Blogging.
